Mom, for the first time in my life i was picky. I didnt really like the typical ecuadorian food. I thought the pork in ecuador would taste simmilar to our pork(roast pork)but it didnt. They cook with different spices like cuumin. It was very simple. I liked the Ahi. it was very spicy.lol. ttyl.love you.and i miss you.

I am so proud of you and all that you have done so far in your life, you've really come a long way.my baby girl is growing up,and there is no one i can argue with about that.keep enjoying yourself, and when you come home we will have a pernil waiting for you. miss you much love you more mom(miriams)
Saludos desde Quito. Let me try to give some explanation of the photos. Yesterday, Saturday we went in the school van to Ilalo. Colegio Menor invited us to join them on their weekly community service visit to this small town. In Ilalo, the students teach people how to read and write. The program was designed for adults who never had the opportunity to go to school, however most of the women have to bring their children, so the students help them too. Hence, the pic of Miriam and Khadijat teaching Luis. Really rewarding experience for all of us. After our community service the school van, which has been available to us daily for all our travels, took us to Otavalo. Otavalo is an indigenous town about two hours from Quito. The drive through the mountains was breathtaking. We bargained in Spanish, and bought fabulous crafts! We ate a traditional ecuadorian lunch. The man in the picture is our driver, dont worry! We ate dinner in an upscale neighborhood called el mariscal. There are very trendy restaurants there and also many english speakers. Today we will visit the old section of Quito, go to el mitad del mundo, and take a tram ride that supposedly offers the most wonderful views of the mountains! Khadijat and Miriam have been wonderful and are enjoying all these new experiences. It has been an absolute pleasure traveling with them. Adios po ahora! Sra. G
